Here is a little story that I wrote recently for the excellent GeekDad column on Wired UK about a how a smart present I received from my mum and dad for my 6th birthday has helped to shape the rest my life.

I'm a presenter, journalist and technologist working in consumer and enterprise technology.
I pop up online and on television getting excited about technology; I'm a Consulting Editor at Computing and contribute to titles including Wired, CNET and Computer Weekly and occasionally show up on BBC TV and radio to talk tech. I've worked for over 15 years in industry with the likes of IBM and Dell and travelled the world talking and doing tech with Reuters.
I'm a UK STEM Ambassador, a member of the Chartered Institute for IT and the Royal Television Society and also appear in panto every Christmas. Usually as a villain.
