I am Nikon - Photokina 2012

Filming for Nikon at Photokina 2012 in Cologne

I am Nikon - Photokina 2012I’ve just returned from Cologne where I’ve been filming for Nikon at Photokina, the world’s leading photography and imaging fair.

Working once again with the online video experts at Fixation Video we produced nearly 30 videos for Nikon, as well as shooting the presentations from photography and cinematography experts from across the world and they keynote from Adobe’s Worldwide Evangelist for Video Jason Levine (who also featured in UK Creative Week earlier this year).

A highlight for me was directing this piece with photographer and videographer Corey Rich, a world-exclusive hands-on review of the ‘Nikon D4 Mini’. It’s so small you might almost mistake it for a USB memory stick…

It was a revelation working so closely for the first time with Nikon equipment and its people. I’ve been shooting video and still on Canon DSLRs for the last two-and-a-half years, but having access to wonderful cameras such as the D800, D600 and D4, as well as Nikkor’s beautiful lenses, has really opened my eyes and given me food for thought as I consider what my next camera will be.

How To Make Movies with your Android Smartphone

How to make HD movies on your AndroidThe second of my How to Make HD Movies on your Smartphone features for CNET UK was published last week. This time I focused on videography for the Android platform and used the Samsung Galaxy S3 handset as an example.

My iPhone filmmaking feature has been receiving great interest and feedback online too; as always there’s so much more that I could have written about accessories and apps and the same is true for the Android version.

I’ll be writing more very soon on mobile journalism and smartphone videography so do keep checking back.
